Donate a Vehicle

CFI will now accept any vehicle, running or not, as a tax-deductible donation. Donated vehicles can help our organization in one of two ways:

1. Field Vehicles in Working Order. CFI’s crews principally use 4WD crew cab trucks due to the need to carry several people, tools and supplies to remote trailheads. However, small trucks and SUVs can also play important roles in performing CFI’s work in the backcountry. CFI almost exclusively uses four-wheel-drive vehicles due to unpredictable mountain weather and the need to travel on rugged dirt roads.

2. Clunkers, Junkers and Other Vehicles. CFI has the option to sell donated vehicles as a fundraising tool. A third party called Cars Helping Charities sells old or dead vehicles (cars, boats, motorcycles, etc.) on behalf of CFI and the proceeds help us further our work on the Fourteeners. They will tow your inoperable vehicle from any road, free of charge, send CFI the proceeds and provide you with a tax receipt. Complete the online form here.

If you have a vehicle you think CFI could benefit from, please contact the office with questions and let us know the following information:

  • Vehicle make, model and year
  • Odometer reading
  • Any maintenance history that may be important to know
