Quandary Peak

Lend a hand on the only 14er in the Ten-mile Range. For the last three years, this peak has seen vast improvements thanks to the National Forest Foundation’s “Find Your Fourteener” campaign and volunteer efforts. This season we need help maintaining sections at and below treeline on this popular trail that sees as many as 30,000 hiker-use days in a season. Work will include installing timber structures to prevent erosion, trail delineation and/or rock work.

When: Thursday, August 1
Project type: Single day, trail maintenance and restoration
What to bring: CFI will provide a full packing list of necessary equipment, including your own backpacking gear (backpack, sunscreen, sack lunch, 2-3 liters of water, etc.).                                                                                               What not to bring: CFI will provide all trail tools necessary for the project and all safety equipment.

Grays and Torreys Peaks

Join CFI for a day to help protect a 14er that sees as many as 30,000 hiker-use days in a season. This Front Range 14er is desperately in need of some TLC. All project locations start above treeline and work will help CFI establish one sustainable route. The August 3rd project will be the farthest and most difficult work site, about a 2-hour hike above treeline passed the junction for Kelso Ridge. This difficult project will focus on rock work with a small group of volunteers.

When: Saturday, August 3
Project type: Single day, trail maintenance and restoration
What to bring: CFI will provide a full packing list of necessary equipment, including your own backpacking gear (backpack, sunscreen, sack lunch, 2-3 liters of water, etc.).                                                                                               What not to bring: CFI will provide all trail tools necessary for the project and all safety equipment.
