Exciting News! Colorado Fourteeners Initiative had an amazing series of events last Friday with not just one, but THREE major wins. Here's what went down:1. Governor Jared Polis signed the bipartisan Senate Bill 58 into law. This legislation is a huge step forward in protecting private landowners who generously allow free public access to their land for recreational purposes. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this bill across the finish line!2. Great Outdoors Colorado - GOCO made a whopping $68 million announcement through the new Centennial program, and guess what? $3.2 million was awarded to National Forest Foundation, Chaffee County, Envision Chaffee County, and CFI for a multi-year project on the 14ers.3. Colorado Parks and Wildlife awarded CFI a generous grant of $250,000 for Phase II of the Mount Shavano Trail Reconstruction Project. We are so honored to be a part of all three of these major initiatives!

Paul Berteau has been a loyal supporter of CFI's work dating back to 1996. In 2010, after summitting 27 14,000-peaks, an unfortunate ski accident stopped him short of his goal to summit all of Colorado's 14ers. To keep himself active, he started walking and tracking his miles. He's walked more than 7,500 miles since 2020, and in 2022 he turned those miles into money for causes that he cares about. This year, to help CFI celebrate its 30th Anniversary he wanted to do something special. Paul has set a goal of walking 1,500 miles and raising $1,500 for Colorado Fourteeners Initiative in 2024. He's also offered to match the first $500 raised through his fundraising campaign. Please follow this link below to learn more about Paul's story and consider making a donation to cheer him on as sets out to protect our beloved peaks, step by step.
